Please Introduce yourself to our readers

 

Hey I am Charmain Faulk I graduated with a B.A. in Psychology from Kean University.  I am pursing nursing as soon as I can.  I have been going back to school to take prereq’s towards my nursing.  I am 33 years old my birthday is in July.  I like to praise dance, read, write and make YouTube video  I also like to spend time with my family and I enjoy yoga a lot.

 How long have you been practicing yoga?

 

I would say I have been practicing yoga for about 2 to 3 years approx and before now I have been practicing I would say 5 years ago.

How did you get started ? 

I initially got started because i was like that looks cool and i felt great after i  did it but then over time i stopped i picked back up again recently because a lot has been going on in my life i pray all the time and go to church, when my dad passed Feb 2011 it def took a toll on me i didn’t think i would lose a parent so soon it def hurt it still does made me feel like i was missing a part of me so i decided to get back into yoga to find that inner peace again and to become more one with myself and try to decrease the stress in my life along with praying as well.

How has yoga transformed your life ?

Yoga has transformed my life in a lot of ways as far as making clearer decisions thinking a lot more before i make a decision trying not to stress to much about a situation and it alsoi has helped me try to eat more healthier and it has also helped me increase my flexibility along with transforming my body into a leaner person than before.  I just find yoga relaxing and its like i get that me time to myself and just worry about me on my mat doing what i like to do and that practice yoga.

Do you have any yoga tips for beginners ? 

The number one tip i have is not to compare yourself to other yogis. This is your practice you will get better as time goes on in your practice.  You will see improvement day by day even if its just a tiny bit of improvement its ok you know you are making practice.  Make sure you take pictures to really see your progress and see what you can do to improve your practice.  You make your journey fun and do it at your own pace do what you can at that moment the rest will come later.  Just remember to breathe and live in the moment.

Do you have any special projects you would like to share with our readers ?
 The special project that i have to share is really basically maybe one day owning a yoga studio soon.  My mother has been very motivating me to open up this Yoga Studio in the near future. I graduated from Yoga Teacher Training Class in NJ on April 2016.  A great yoga studio with and awesome teacher.  I still have to complete the rest of my hours to become certified and I am almost done with those hours.  That is just one of my special projects and also trying to get back into school if I can.  I am praying and continuing to keep God first.
